The Bishop of Fort Worth and the Archbishop of Canterbury

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High Jr., bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, spent time with the Most Rev. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, at the recent “Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace” conference in Oklahoma. Archbishop Welby spoke to the conference and then had lunch with the bishops present.

Bishop Rayford High confirms four at St. Christopher Fort Worth

On Sunday, May 4, 2014, the Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., celebrated and preached at two services, and confirmed four people at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Fort Worth. He was assisted by the Rev. Jan Cazden, deacon, and the Rev. William T. Stanford, rector. A reception followed. The confirmands are Danielle Halbert, Devita Carrillo, Raymond Carrillo, and Evan Olsen. The child in the photo is the eldest son of the Carrillos. Chrism Mass and reaffirmation of vows

The Chrism Mass and reaffirmation of vows for the bishop and diocesan clergy was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at St. Luke’s in the Meadow Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. The Rt. Rev. Clergy invited to Chrism Mass – Good news for leaders

Tuesday of Holy Week (April 15) is the date of the diocese’s annual “mass of collegiality,” or “Chrism Mass,” and all clergy are cordially invited to attend. The mass, to be celebrated at St. Luke’s in the Meadow, 4301 Meadowbrook Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76103 will begin at 11am, with Bishop Rayford High preaching and presiding.

Transition Trainings postponed – ministry continues

Last week’s news from the Texas Supreme Court made clear that resolution of litigation will not be soon. Because of the change in situation, the Transition Trainings scheduled for Sept. 12 and 14 will be postponed. Leaders who had RSVP’ed have been contacted, and plans are in the works for adapting these trainings to the longer timeframe that the decision has given us. Said Bishop Rayford High, “We have plenty of work to do being the church and sharing God’s good news.”

Mexican lunch & dinner at St Luke’s, Stephenville raises money for outreach

“You’re never alone here at St. Luke’s.” Voting in Erath County apparently makes everyone really hungry. There were long lines at the traditional Election Day Mexican Supper at St. Luke’s, Stephenville. People came for the food, for the cause, and for the sense of community.
