There are a few things church-goin’ Texans take almost as seriously as they take God – and they are sports, barbecue, and politics.
The Friday night speaker at the 2014 Diocesan Convention is a quadruple threat – not only is he an Episcopalian, but Bud Kennedy also has spent his whole career covering all three topics. Come hear his entertaining take on Texans and the four-legged stool of Bible, Baseball, Barbecue and Ballots.
Visitors to convention can register here.
Dinner is at 6:30 – following the do-not-miss Bishops’ Home Run Challenge between Bishop Rayford High of the Diocese of Fort Worth and Bishop Andy Doyle of the Diocese of Texas. (There is a wager riding on this.)
Kennedy will speak at 7 pm. in the Jack Daniels Club at Globe Life Park.
Bud Kennedy is a homegrown Fort Worth guy who started out covering high school football at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram when he was 16. He went away to the Fort Worth Press and newspapers in Austin and Dallas, then came home in 1981. Since 1987, he’s written more than 1,000 weekly dining columns and more than 3,000 news and politics columns. If you don’t like what he says about politics, read him on barbecue. You can watch him on Inside Texas Politics on WFAA, Channel 8, on Sunday mornings at 9 am. You also can follow Bud on Facebook and Twitter.
