Reaffirmation of vows, blessing of oils

On Tuesday, March 31, 2015, the clergy of the diocese gathered with the Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., at St. Luke’s in the Meadow Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, to reaffirm their vows. Bishop High also blessed vials of oil for use by the clergy in the coming year. The worship service, traditionally held on Tuesday of Holy Week, was followed by a luncheon and meeting of the bishop with the clergy. See more photos at the diocesan Flickr gallery.…

Bishop High visits Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls on Palm Sunday

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., visited the Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls on Palm Sunday. The service began outside with the blessing of the palms and a procession into the church. Bishop High visits Wise County Episcopalians

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., visited the Episcopalians of Wise County in their newly-acquired worship space, the Boonsville Community Center, located at the intersection of Draco-Boonsville Rd (CR 3743) and FM 920 on Sunday, March 22, 2015. In November, at the 2014 Diocesan Convention, the Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., announced that he would be stepping down as the diocese’s provisional bishop at its 2015 Diocesan Convention. Bishop Rayford B. High, Jr., visited St. Alban’s, worshiping in Theatre Arlington, on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Bishop to hold town hall meetings with all deaneries

Bishop Rayford B. High, Jr., has begun holding a series of town hall meetings with the deaneries of the diocese. All of these meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. Bishop High is particularly interested in “how each deanery can be more active in ministry and outreach and how the diocese can support and strengthen them.” He will be seeking input from attendees and answering questions. Episcopalians support Hood County Christmas for Children

Hood County Christmas for Children volunteers will distribute toys to thousands of children on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Christmas for Children is one of the charities supported by the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Granbury. It serves the children of Hood County who might not get Christmas gifts otherwise. Children on the list come primarily from those on lunch assistance in the school system, supplemented by applications from Mission Granbury and other local agencies. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., was given an honorary Doctor of Divinity by the University of South, Sewanee, as part of the Founders’ Day Convocation on Friday, October 17, 2014. The Rev. The Rev. Dr. Vernon and Deanna Gotcher were honored by the people of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Hurst, on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at a dinner at Diamond Oaks Country Club in Haltom City. On Sunday, June 22, 2014, the Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr. visited Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. He confirmed six people, received five, and reaffirmed the baptismal vows of one person. Fort Worth clergy participate in retreat at Camp Allen

Bishop Rayford B. High, Jr. and his wife, Pat, participated in the May 5-7 Episcopal Diocese of Texas Retreat for Retired Clergy, Spouses, and Surviving Spouses at Camp Allen in Navasota, TX. The Rev. Johnson Shannon and his wife, Mary, of Fort Worth, also took part in the retreat. The retired clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth have been invited to participate in the retreat in recent years.
