St. Stephen’s, Hurst, plans celebration of ministries (Updated)

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in  Hurst, is planning a celebration of the ministries of the Rev. Dr. Vernon Gotcher and Deanna Gotcher at 6:30 pm Saturday, September 27, at the Diamond Oaks Country Club, 5821 Diamond Oaks Dr. N, Fort Worth, TX, 76117. 

The Rev. Gotcher was the founding rector of St. Stephen’s in 1966 when they met in a former bait and tackle shop on Grapevine Highway. He has served several different times at St. Stephen’s. He came out of retirement to be priest in charge at St. Stephen’s when the diocese reorganized in 2009 and they began worshiping in the Oak Crest Woman’s Club. St. Stephen’s now  worships at the Northeast Wedding Chapel,1843 Precinct Line Rd., Hurst, but will soon move into its own building at 463 Harwood Drive in Hurst.

Deanna Gotcher serves as a lay reader, a lay eucharistic minister, and on the altar guild. She is in Daughters of the King and the Study Club. She often accompanies her husband on visits to the sick and dying.

The September celebration will include dinner, a silent auction, libations, and music. Anyone wishing to be included in the celebration information list should send an email to ststephensec@att.net.
