St. Alban’s Theatre Arlington featured in ENS coverage of college food insecurity

St. Alban’s Theatre Arlington is one of several Episcopal churches across the United States working to address the issue of food insecurity on college campuses.

The problem is outlined in the main story, headlined Episcopalians try to counter “Startling” Problem of Food Insecurity Among College Students.

The story opens with, “Episcopalians in college towns all over the United States are recognizing that many students have to choose between tuition and books or food, and they are trying to help.”

St. Alban’s food pantry ministry to international students at the University of Texas at Arlington starts off the second story headlined Campus Food Ministries come in all serving sizes. The story details how six congregations in five different states are addressing the issue at local colleges and universities.

St. Alban’s is not the first congregation in the diocese to garner attention for  addressing the issue of food insecurity on college campuses. Mary Frances Schjonberg, reporter and writer on both stories, profiled St. Luke’s, Stephenville, and its Thursday lunches for Tarleton State University as part of a series of stories in January 2017 about the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth. The story includes a video.
