St. Alban’s, Arlington, hires interim priest

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Arlington, has hired the Rev. Norma Barr as an interim priest. Her first Sunday was October 5, 2014. She will serve until they have a permanent priest-in-charge.

Barr was born and raised in Dunfermline, Scotland. She went to college in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has two children, Mhairi-Anne and Greg. Not long after her children left home for college, Barr made her first trip to Iona, a very small island in the Western Isles of Scotland, to be on the staff of the Iona Community. She attended seminary in Bristol, England, and was ordained in the Scottish Episcopal Church in 2000. After her son moved to the United States she served in a parish in Pontiac, IL; as a chaplain with Aurora Health Care, and as chaplain/vicar of Saint John’s on the Lake Retired Community in Milwaukee. Her son now lives in Addison, and her daughter and grandchildren live in Hong Kong.
