Get ready for summer with Safeguarding – Good news for leaders

Safe church trainings are offered in multiple congregations around the diocese during May, June, and August, just in time for mission trips and vacation church school.

Three courses provide training for people who minister in various situations. “Safeguarding God’s Children” is designed for parents and for those who work with children and youth. “Safeguarding God’s People – Preventing Sexual Exploitation” is especially useful for those whose ministries involve vulnerable adults, particularly those with disabilities, the infirm, and the elderly. “Safeguarding God’s People – Preventing Sexual Harassment” is directed at volunteers and employees, both lay and ordained, as well as managers, supervisors, and those with hiring or human-resources responsibilities.

Which course needs to be taken is determined by the role of a person in the congregation. Some – wardens and employees, for example – may need to take all three. The courses can be taken in any order. Themes of the three courses are mutually reinforcing. All courses are free of charge. Any congregation or deanery is welcome to host a training, and can make arrangements through the diocesan office.

Please contact Michele King at the diocesan office (michele.king@edotn.org, 817-534-1900) to register for any of the trainings.
