Frank Reeves honored by Good Shepherd, Granbury

On Sunday, June 7, 2015, the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Granbury, honored the Rev. Frank B. Reeves and Susan Reeves for their ministry with the congregation. Reeves has been their sustaining priest for the past six-and-a-half years, and Susan has been at his side.

The vestry has called and Bishop Rayford B. High, Jr. has appointed the Rev. Suzi Robertson, D.Min, as priest in charge. Robertson will begin on July 16, 2015.

Frank Reeve’s connection with Good Shepherd goes back a long way. Reeves’ father, the Rev. Hume Wixom Reeves, Sr. established Good Shepherd in 1974 and served as their first vicar. Reeves’ mother and father are both buried just outside the front door of the original church.

Reeves began his role as sustaining priest in November 2008, almost immediately after the former bishop and other leaders of the diocese left The Episcopal Church. The congregation was worshiping in the Wednesday Woman’s Club just off the square in Granbury. When they outgrew that space, they moved to their present location at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

“Fr. Frank has been so good for this parish; he will definitely be missed,” said Ian Moore, senior warden.”Frank grew up as a member of this Church, there is a long history here.”
Frank and Susan Reeves wrote in a note to the congregation, “We want to take this opportunity to let you know how much we have enjoyed our time with you at Good Shepherd. . .  We have enjoyed our 6 ½ years here and have appreciated the opportunity to become “friends like family” with you. Thank you for the support and encouragement you have provided us during our time at Good Shepherd.”
There was a brunch in their honor at the DeCordova Bend Estates Country Club.
