Former Fort Worth Parishioner to be Ordained

We have received notice that Laura Eileen Beck will be ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons in Christ’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church by The Right Reverend Dr. Edward J. Konieczny, Bishop of Oklahoma, on Saturday, the twenty-ninth of December, 2012, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Laura attended St. Christopher, Fort Worth, from 2003 until 2008. Her interest in becoming an Episcopal priest was stimulated by her training as a Stephen Minister
here. She was commissioned as a Stephen Minister by Fr. Bill Stanford in April, 2004, along with Ed Bowman, Sarah Hillman, Miriam Houtz and Jerry Singer. Father Bill and the Stephen Ministry group were supportive of her plans and considered her to be an excellent candidate for the priesthood.

Because of the bleak prospects of becoming ordained as a female priest at that time in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, Laura moved back to Tulsa to rejoin the church she attended as a girl, and found new employment as a nurse. Sponsored by the Diocese of Oklahoma, she attended and recently graduated from the School of Theology at Sewanee: The University of the South.

Please remember Laura in your prayers.
