ECW calls for CASA ingathering

The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) around the diocese have selected the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program as their principal charity. The group is asking congregations throughout the diocese to collect funds in both the spring and the fall, for disbursement to CASA offices throughout the diocese.

Funds raised through ECW will help pay travel expenses for CASA volunteers, who otherwise cover this expense themselves. CASA volunteer advocates focus on children in the child welfare system. They investigate a child’s situation in foster care, monitor their home and school life, and, ultimately, recommend to the courts which placement is best for a child to call a “forever home.” Financial support for CASA ensures continued recruiting and training of these special volunteers.

Please schedule a spring in-gathering for on or before May 26, and the fall ingathering on or before Oct. 27. Please advise ECW president Sandy Shockley (dshock9510@aol.com) of the dates you have chosen.
