Bishop Mayer installs Suzi Robertson at Good Shepherd, Granbury

Bishop Scott Mayer installed the Rev. Suzi Robertson as priest in charge of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Granbury, on October 6, 2015. Bishop Scott Mayer visited St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Stephenville, on Sunday, October 4, 2015, The congregation is still celebrating the return of their red front doors, recently repaired and repainted after an attack by a vandal. Bishop Mayer celebrated and preached and confirmed Alice Arrington Newsome, Randi Barnes, MacKenze Brister, Reegan Brister, and Cade Norman. There was a luncheon afterward in the parish hall. Bishop Mayer issues statement in wake of Oregon school shooting

Once again our nation is mourning victims of a mass shooting. Once again, the shooting was at a school, this time a community college in Oregon. According to news reports, this is the 45th time this year and the 142nd time since the December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook massacre that killed twenty 5 and 6-year-olds, that a gunman has opened fire in a school. Solemn Evensong October 4, All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Fort Worth

The 2015 Diocesan Convention is November 13-14 at the Botanic Garden Center. Bishop Scott Mayer makes first visitation

The Rt. Rev. J. Scott Mayer made his first visitation since his election as provisional bishop to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, worshiping in the Good Shepherd Chapel at University Christian Church. Bishop Mayer’s family attended St. Andrew’s from the time he was eight years old until he went to college, so it was a bit of a homecoming for him. The Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls will be offering their building, a secure, air-conditioned facility with 2 restrooms for overnight guests who are attending the Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred 34th Runnin’ Bike Race August 27-30, 2015. The building will be open on Friday, August 28, at 5:00 pm and the outside doors will be locked at 11:00 pm that night. Diocesan lay leader George Komechak, 79, died at his home in west Fort Worth on Saturday, August 8, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Gilbert Komechak, and a son, Gil Komechak; a daughter, Kim Komechak; two grandsons and a great-grandson.
