Worship Commission Report to 2014 Convention

The Worship Commission report to the 2014 Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth is submitted by the Rev. Curt Norman. You may download a PDF of this report here.

The ministry of worship planning and implementation for large events in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth is a collaborative effort. The Worship Commission’s primary participants, working at the invitation of and in concert with the bishop, include Ms. Debora Clark, Ms. Marion Cole, the Rev. Amy Haynie, and the Rev. Dr. Andrew Wright. In addition, the Commission regularly consults with other individuals around and outside the diocese for assistance in its work.

Most notably this past year, the fruits of the Commission’s efforts were manifested at the celebration of Holy Eucharist during the February visit of Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori and House of Deputies President Rev. Gay Clark Jennings. As has been the case with worship at diocesan conventions, the Commission planned the liturgy and music, assembled and rehearsed the choir, acolytes, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, vergers, and ushers from congregations across the diocese for the service at University Christian Church in Fort Worth. Ms. Maggie Withroder provided invaluable assistance to the Commission from beginning to end.

The Worship Commission would like at some point in the future to become a resource for congregations as they plan worship in their local contexts.
