The Rev. Doyle Dietz Allen Called to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Tucson

The Rev. Doyle Dietz Allen has been called to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Tucson, Arizona. She will be assistant to the rector, the Rev. Bruce White. Her ministry officially begins on May 15, but she and her husband Tom Allen will be leaving on May 9 to drive to Tucson and begin settling in. St. Albans is located in the foothills area of the Catalina Mountains.

The Rev. Allen was ordained by Bishop Wallis C. Ohl on October 27, 2012, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, worshiping at Theater Arlington in Arlington, TX. She has been serving there as priest associate. She was ordained a transitional deacon at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth.

She worked in the business world for more than 20 years in sales, supervision and management, mostly in the staffing industry.  She also ran a crisis center for victims of family violence and sexual assault, serving seven counties in east Texas.  Feeling God’s call to a change of vocation, she spent seven months in South Korea, teaching English to Korean children. It was there that she heard God’s call to be a priest.

The Rev. Allen has a B.A. in Sociology from SMU and a Masters of Divinity with a Certificate in Anglican Studies from Perkins School of Theology.  Her ministry experiences include: chaplaincy internship at Baylor Hospital Dallas; training and supervising Stephen Ministers; leading chapters of The Order of Saint Luke; serving as pastor at Saint Luke’s Church in Denison, Texas, including Leading worship, preaching, pastoral care and adult education; leading bible studies and small groups; and coordinating sacramental preparation at the Episcopal Church of The Incarnation, Dallas.
