Plan to see youth production of GODSPELL and help ERD

The youth of St. Alban’s, worshiping in Theater Arlington, and St. Anne’s, DeSoto, are presenting Godspell this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. in Bishops Hall at Canterbury Episcopal School, 1708 N. Westmoreland in DeSoto.

Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, that opened off Broadway in 1971. All proceeds go to Episcopal Relief and Development.

The all-youth production was the brainchild of the youth of St. Alban’s and St. Anne’s. Our own Melanie Wright, priest in charge of St. Alban’s, and her family are deeply involved in the production, with members of the family doing everything from playing Jesus to being the lighting director to singing solos.

The production is excellent and all proceeds, including the money for cold water bottles and candy bars at intermission, go to ERD. The youth give several good commercials for clean water and food for starving children.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 469-297-3920, purchased directly at the door for cash or check, or purchased online with a credit card at Godspell2012.eventbrite.com.

The production starts at 7 and ends around 9:30. DeSoto is about 40 minutes from Fort Worth.
