July 9, 2010 - Archives of the Episcopal Diocese Completes Major Acquisition
The Archives of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth has recently acquired from several sources many of the issues of The Spirit of Missions, a monthly publication of the Board of Missions of The Episcopal Church that began publication in January 1836. This acquisition is of great historic value because The Spirit of Missions is now considered the most reliable source of information about the early history of The Episcopal Church in Texas. June 8, 2010 - St. Stephens-Hurst at work

St. Stephen's, Hurst, has been busy working at the Union Gospel Mission in Fort Worth. The Outreach Committee assisted two clients who live at the mission by painting and decorating their living quarters there. The Union Gospel Mission provides living quarters on their site to particular individuals and then assists them in making transition into a permanent residence once the client is ready to do so. There is no limit on timeframe when the transition is to take place. (more...)

The Archives of The Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth consists of four distinct sections: History Library, Documents, Photographs, and Ephimera. You may expect an announcement regarding the History Library of a major acquisition within the coming months. At this time, there are no photographs, which have been received by the archives for storage and preservation. We do have some ephimera, the latest being a gift by John Dosher of his CD – "Contemporary Eucharist of The Episcopal Church Rite 2 with Hymns of Worship and Praise" by John E. Dosher. May 15, 2010 - Wichita Falls parishes host May Executive Council Meeting
Bishop Ohl is fond of recalling that when he was rector of a Colorado Springs parish, he often referred to his bishop as "The Bishop of Denver." He perceived that little happened outside the See City of the Diocese of Colorado. Responding to that lead, the vestry of All Saints', Wichita Falls, invited the Executive Council to gather for its May meeting at the ARC, Wichita County's facility for handicapped people where All Saints' worships. May 9, 2010 - Episcopalians from historic parish are worshipping together again
The Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth is overjoyed to announce that Episcopalians from St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Fort Worth are worshipping each Sunday at 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3401 Bellaire Drive So., Fort Worth. Until this arrangement was made with Trinity, they had been dispersed among various Episcopal parishes for several months because St. Andrew’s historic building at 917 Lamar in downtown Fort Worth is currently occupied by people who have left The Episcopal Church. May 2, 2010 - St. Alban's music director publishes new book John Dosher, music director at Saint Alban's Episcopal Church worshipping at Theater Arlington, has recently published a book and companion CD, The Episcopal Contemporary Eucharist with Hymns of Praise and Worship, available through Amazon.com, containing his mass setting and some hymns appropriate for use as Offertory and Communion music. St. Alban's uses the Dosher Mass on alternate Sundays. Priscilla Promise, St. Alban's senior warden, said, "John's devotion to bringing contemporary music to the church was the glue that built a Folk Mass Choir that became a major part of our Saint Alban's Episcopal community. The joy we share is evident in the rhythms and musical expressions of John's music." People can hear Dosher's music on his website: johnedosher.com.

April 16, 2010 - Owanah Anderson to be keynote speaker
Owanah Anderson, senior warden of All Saints Wichita Falls and one of the prime matriarchs of the reorganized Diocese of Fort Worth, will be the keynote speaker at the Oklahoma IV 2010 Consultation hosted by the School of Theology at Sewanee, the University of the South, from Thursday, May 27 to Monday, May 31, 2010. The consultation is being sponsored in part by the School of Theology in collaboration with the Indigenous Theological Training Institute (ITTI), The Episcopal Church office of Native Ministry, and the Executive Council’s Committee on Indigenous Ministry (ECCIM).  (more...)

Spring Concert at All Saints' - Ft. Worth

Safeguarding God's Children class scheduled
A Safeguarding God's Children class will be held on May 1 from 9:00 to 12:00 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth in their Parish Hall. St. Stephen's-Hurst Healing Ministry
The Healing Ministry at St. Stephen's was started by Father Thomas in the summer of 2009. Though it was originally designed to be a chapter of the Order of St. Luke (an international healing ministry, founded by an Episcopal priest), those in the ministry felt it may be better to customize their own healing ministry according to the needs of the parish and the greater community. Presentation on iconography scheduled for February 27
The All Saints' Fort Worth chapter of the Society of Mary invites everyone to a presentation by local iconologist Eleanor Forfang-Brockman, a member of St. Luke's-in-the-Meadow, on Saturday the 27th at 9:00 a.m. Ms. Forfang-Brockman's talk will examine the significance of the use of icons in the church, with special attention given to icons of Jesus and Mary. She has been studying and practicing iconography since 1988. In addition to writing icons for use in both private and public worship spaces, she has conducted icon-writing workshops, and has developed and taught a course in iconography. The talk will follow an 8:30 a.m. corporate rosary in the Chapel of the Annunciation. The morning will begin with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 8:00 a.m. in the chapel.

Diocesan-wide Golf Outing scheduled for April 17
A diocesan-wide golf outing is being organized by the Men’s Club of All Saints’ Fort Worth. It is scheduled for April 17 at Squaw Creek Golf Course, which is part of the Lockheed Martin Recreation Association. The golf course is west of Loop 820 and North of I30 at the Willow Park exit. (Click here for directions.) The cost to play is $39 per player, which covers the green fee and cart; lunch is on your own. Tee times start at 11:00 a.m. and provision has been made for 24 people (six foursomes). Feel free to bring your own foursome or just sign up to play. To make your reservation, contact Jeff Nichols at 817-923-6877 or nichols4408@sbcglobal.net. Afterwards, everyone is invited to All Saints’ Church for a Crab Boil benefiting their Belize Mission Outreach effort. The meal begins around 6:00 p.m.

February 7, 2010 - One Year Later
On Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Worth was crammed full of emotional Episcopalians. The presiding bishop, the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, was going to celebrate and preach at a Eucharist that would set the tone for a day in which the diocese would be reorganized after the departure of the former bishop and most other diocesan leaders from The Episcopal Church and the diocese. January 6, 2010 - Presiding Bishop mentions All Saints Wichita Falls in sermon in Liberia
On January 6, the presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, was an official guest of the Episcopal Church of Liberia. The presiding bishop preached and celebrated Epiphany Mass at St. Thomas Church in Monrovia, a service attended by Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Melanie Barnett Wright as priest in charge of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, which holds services at Theatre Arlington,305 W. Main, Arlington, TX. The appointment is effective January 1, 2010. Deacon ClayOla Gitane was ordained a priest on Saturday, December 5 by the Rt. Rev. Bavi Edna "Nedi" Rivera of the Diocese of Olympia [Washington] before a joy-filled congregation at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fort Worth. The Rt. Rev. C. December 1, 2009 - Diocese of Fort worth to ordain second woman as priest
The rejoicing continues in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth as preparations are made for the ordination of Deacon ClayOla Gitane to the priesthood at 10 a.m. Saturday December 5 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3401 Bellaire Drive South, Fort Worth, 76109. She will be the second woman ordained to the priesthood in this diocese.

She is one of more than fifteen women who over the years have had to leave the diocese in order to be ordained priests because all the bishops of Fort Worth prior to 2009 opposed the ordination of women. With God's help, she will be the last. (more...)

December 1, 2009 - United Campus Ministries to restart at Midwestern State University
Millie Gore, in cooperation with area Episcopal, ELCA Lutheran, Presbyterian, Christian (Disciples of Christ), and Methodist churches, has succeeded in getting United Campus Ministries rechartered at Midwestern State University, where she is a professor. November 21, 2009 - All Saints-Wichita Falls to be featured in online Advent Calendar
Every year, Trinity Wall Street puts out a fabulous online Advent calendar, full of stories, photos, videos, and the like. This year the theme is "Expect Hope." Several months ago, Leah Reddy of Trinity Wall Street sent out a note to Episcopal Communicators in The Episcopal Church and to all the provinces of the Anglican Communion, asking for stories from parishes for possible inclusion in the calendar. Thanks to Diocesan Communications Director Katie Sherrod's response to this request, All Saints-Wichita Falls will be one of the featured parishes! November 18, 2009 - Gift of custom-made boots for Bp. Gulick

BootsAt the diocesan convention it was announced that a gift of a custom-made pair of boots was being made to our departing provisional bishop, the Rt. Rev. Edwin F. [Ted] Gulick Jr.

Before he left town, Fred Barber and David Madison, both members of the Standing Committee, accompanied Bishop Ted to Leddy's, where Wilson Franklin, the owner, measured the bishop's feet for a precise fit and helped him pick out the various leathers for the boots.

How Beautiful are the Feet of those who bring good news, proclaim peace, bring glad tidings of good things, proclaim salvation, and proclaim to Zion, "Your God reigns!" Isaiah 52:7

November 21, 2009 - Gift of gratitude from Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth doubled by matching grant
At the recent 27th Diocesan Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, outgoing Provisional Bishop Edwin F. [Ted] Gulick Jr. asked that the offering at the Eucharist be given to Episcopal Relief and Development [ERD]. In deep gratitude for the ministry of Bishop Gulick with the diocese for the past ten months, the congregation responded, and the amount of the offering totaled $3,070.03.

But wait! There’s more! Episcopal Relief & Development has gotten a grant that will match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $250,000, if they are made by Nov. 30. As a result of that matching grant, the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth will be making possible a gift of more than $6,000 to help a hurting world. Congregations and individuals across the Church have donated more than $200,000 toward the $250,000 goal as of mid-November. To read about all that ERD does, visit our ERD News page.

At the 27th Diocesan convention Bishop Ohl was elected provisional bishop and Bishop Gulick stepped down. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori sent greetings to the convention, saying, "I give thanks for your strong and faithful ministry over the last year. You continue to witness to the power of the resurrection, giving an account of the faith that is within you. You give hope to others as well! . . .Keep walking, and know who walks with you. November 16, 20098 - The Ordination of Susan Slaughter
The ordination on Sunday, November 15 of Deacon Slaughter took place before more than 400 people packed into St. Luke’s in the Meadow Episcopal Church. Both the presiding bishop and the president of the House of Deputies sent greetings. Anderson had planned to be present, but had to cancel because of illness. She sent gifts to be delivered to Slaughter and to the diocese. more...

The Rev. Melanie R. Barbarito has joined the staff of All Saints Episcopal Church-Fort Worth as parochial associate for evangelism and engagement, making her the first woman priest to be hired on the staff of a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth. Other new clergy are the Rev. Edwin W. Barnett, who is All Saints' new parochial associate for outreach and mission, and the Rev. I will never "get" hunger down in my belly like homeless people who live under the bridges in Wichita Falls do, and yes, I’ve seen them with my own eyes. All Saints Episcopal Church in Wichita Falls is a faithful congregation of about 40 to 50 people whose displacement from their building propelled them headlong into outreach and mission. They vowed to look outside themselves to those in need instead of focusing on their own pain. So much so that a mere year after being forced to leave their building they are pledging to feed a meal to 5000 people during the next four months. more...

August 10, 2009 - Living Stones overnighter planned
The Episcopal Center for Renewal in Dallas is sponsoring a "Living Stones" overnighter for 5th and 6th graders. It will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, and lasting until Saturday, September 12 around 4:00 p.m. Living Stones is a program designed to help children see themselves as God sees them. Using skits, games, graphics and music, Living Stones shows the children how they can take all of their cares and burdens to Jesus. It also shows them that each one of them is very important in building God’s Kingdom.
