Vernon and Deanna Gotcher honored at dinner

The Rev. Dr. Vernon and Deanna Gotcher were honored by the people of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Hurst, on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at a dinner at Diamond Oaks Country Club in Haltom City. David Madison appointed head of school association

The Reverend David Madison, DMin, has been appointed executive director of the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES), effective July 1, 2015. This date was set to allow the academic year 2014-15 to be used for a smooth transition for both All Saints’ Episcopal School, where Madison is assistant head of school and head of the upper school, and SAES. The Task Force to Reimagine the Episcopal Church (TREC) will convene a church wide meeting on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 6:30 pm Central Time. The meeting will be webcast live from Washington National Cathedral. Sewanee to give Bishop High honorary doctorate

The University of the South, Sewanee, will confer upon the Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., bishop of Fort Worth, an honorary Doctor of Divinity on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Founders’ Day Convocation. Sewanee’s announcement said, “The Rt. Rev. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., will ordain Tony Hiatt to the Sacred Order of Deacons at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fort Worth. Bishop High visits St. Elisabeth/Christ the King

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., visited St. Elisabeth and Christ the King Episcopal Church in River Oaks on Sunday, September 21. The combined congregations of St. Elisabeth and Christ the King have been worshiping together at St. Elisabeth’s since December 1, 2013. Bishop High acknowledged the work it takes to successfully carry out such a move, and he congratulated them on how well the arrangement is working. The Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls calls Amy Haynie – UPDATED

The congregations of All Saints’, Good Shepherd, and St. Stephen’s Episcopal churches have come together as The Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls and are worshiping under one roof at 5023 Lindale Drive. They have been worshiping together since July 6 and have been employing supply priests while they went through a search process. That process has culminated in the call of the Rev. Bishop High dedicates St. Stephen’s new building

On Sunday, September 14, Bishop Rayford B. High, Jr., dedicated and blessed the new building of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church,  Hurst. Kathleen Wells, chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, was recently elected by her fellow alumni as a trustee on the board of trustees of the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin.
